Governor Maurer, a phlebotomist at Thibodaux Regional Health System, collects patient specimens, draws blood, and conducts additional laboratory tests at physicians’ requests. Additionally, Governor Dane Maurer has played drums with the rock band Silver String Brothers alongside three close friends, Aiden Soignet and Brayden Gros, for over a year.
As Governor Maurer completes his bachelor of science in biology with a pre medicine focus at Nicholls State University, music remains an interest. While earning a 4.0 GPA in his first two semesters, he made the President’s List. He also participates with the Colonel Catholics, Pre-Professional Medical Association, and the Honors Society at Nicholls.
Combining their musical activities with performances that support charitable causes. Governor Maurer performed with the Silver String Brothers at a Phi Mu fundraiser supporting Manning Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. The event raised approximately $15,000. The group also helped raise about $17,000 for the same organization in March. Silver String Brothers also participated in the Nicholls Phi Mu fundraiser, raising approximately $15,000.
